Paula Deen Pound Cake

1 cup, (2 sticks), unsalted butter
2 ½ cups white sugar
1 cup sour cream
½ teaspoon baking soda
3 cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
6 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter and flour a tube or bundt pan.
2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until completely combined. Add the sour cream and mix until combined.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Alternate mixing two eggs and a third of the flour mixture into the butter until all the eggs and dry ingredients have been incorporated. Mix in the vanilla.
4. Scoop the batter into the prepared pan and smooth. Bake for 1 hour 20 minutes, though start checking the cake at 1 hour for doneness. A tester inserted into the cake should come out clean. If the cake is browning too quickly, cover with foil. Let cool completely in pan before removing. Serve plain, with ice cream, whipped cream, fruit, or toasted with a bit of honey or jam.
